29:006 Fall 2009 ---Temperature Conversion Exercises
Temperature conversion formulas: (you will NOT need to memorize these.)
Fahrenheit (TF) to Centigrade (TC): TC = (5/9) (TF - 32)
Centigrade (TC) to Fahrenheit (TF): TF = (9/5) TC + 32
Centigrade (TC) to Kelvin (TK): TK = TC + 273
1) If TF = 77, find TC and TK.
2) If TF = 5, find TC and TK.
3) If TC = - 5, find TK and TF.
4) If TK = 73, find TC and TF.
5) If TF = - 40, find TC.
Answers: 1) 25 C, 298 K
2) -15 C, 258 K
3) 268 K, 23 F
4) -200 C, -328 F
5) -40 C ( this is the one and only common temperature)
