Group

Professor Mallik's group consists of individuals from all around the world. The group has a main interest in common, particle physics.

Usha Mallik Ph.D. 1978, CCNY (of CUNY). Usha is the leader of the group. Her current project is the ATLAS experiment at the LHC at CERN; in physics analyses she and her group work on Higgs boson and beyond Standard Model (BSM) physics search; in Phase 2 upgrade with the high granularity timing detector (HGTD), in Liquid Argon (LAr) calorimeter opearations and in ATLAS central software.

Postdoctoral Fellows
Spyridon Argyropoulos Ph. D. 2015, DESY, Germany, on ATLAS experiment. Spyros has been responsible for the AZh/Vh resonance search paper from the 2015 and 2016 data at 13 TeV. He is also working on Dark Energy search, and on SM higgs to b-bbar branching fraction measurement.

Jose Benitez obtained a Ph.D. degree from SLAC in 2011, was a CERN fellow in the CMS experiment till 2013, taught for one year in Florida (also as part of CMS), then joined the group in January 2015 when he started working on ATLAS. He has been LAr run-coordinator, working on SM higgs to b-bbar and AZh/Vh resonance search. He is also involved in the jet performance study for HGTD with simulation.
Ph. D. 2016, from USTC, Heifei, PRC.
Siqi Yang completed his Ph.D. thesis on D0 experiment at Fermilab with a precision measurement of the Weak mixing angle. He joined the University of Iowa group on the ATLAS experiment immediatelyupon completion of his degree. He is now working the same measurement on ATLAS from the 13 TeV data, and on the HGTD.

Software Engineer
Mikhail Borodin is a software engineer working on the distributed computing system in the ATLAS experiment. He is responsible for smooth opeartion of offline computing in large batches for data and simulation processing, along with the book keeping, trouble shooting and automation as needed.

Graduate Students
Anindya Ghosh completed his MSc degree from Madras I.I.T. in Chennai, India in 2016, and joined the group. He moved to CERN to start his research work in the summer of 2017.
