Description:
This course is intended for pre-medical, pre-dental, and other students who desire a physics course without calculus. Mechanics, motion, sound, heat, and thermodynamics will be covered. The course does not require calculus, but will utilize algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Numerical examples and lab experiments will be chosen to illustrate basic principles. Course grades will be based on homework, two in-class midterms, a final exam, and lab performance. The three weekly lectures are given by Prof. Halekas, with the discussion sections and weekly labs conducted by a TA.

Student Response Systems ("Clickers"):
This course will make extensive use of Student Response Systems (formerly known as "clickers", but starting this semester instead based on personal-device response). Student response systems will be utilized for every class lecture, and extra credit will be assigned for participation. You must register your TurningPoint account on ICON by selecting Turning Account Registration from the Student Response course module. Detailed information and FAQs are available from ITS.
